COMPLIMENTARY MEET THE DOCTOR VISIT:
This service is geared toward first time expectant parents that would like to meet the doctor prior to the delivery of their child. At this visit, we will discuss any complications during your pregnancy and expectations for pediatric care both after birth and in the first year of life. We will be happy to answer any questions that you have about the practice, so come prepared! We encourage both parents to come to this visit if possible.
NEWBORN CARE:
As part of our pediatric practice, we are happy to see newborns in the hospital. We are on staff (and see newborns) at Providence Park in Novi, William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and Huron Valley Sinai hospitals. We usually recommend that your baby be seen in our office 48 hours after discharge
WELL CHILD CARE:
We offer well child care and comprehensive preventative medicine for all children. We follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics and recommend that children be seen at the following ages…
1st year: 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months
2nd year: 15 months, 18 months, 24 months
3rd year: 30 months, 36 months
and yearly thereafter...
At these visits we will address all developmental and health concerns, as well as provide “anticipatory guidance” for parents. We provide handouts for parents at each of the health maintenance visits that may answer many questions you have about this stage in your child’s development.
ADOLESCENT CARE:
Our physicians are board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and are a great choice for teenagers who need to “transition” from the pediatrician into adult care. During this visit, you can expect to discuss issues with your child and the doctor, and then for the doctor to examine your teen privately. This gives us a chance to address any health concerns with your teen, while maintaining a confidential doctor/patient relationship.

SAME DAY SICK VISITS/LATE PATIENT APPOINTMENTS:
As a service to our patients, we do save space for same day sick visits. This is a good way to avoid costly emergency room or urgent care visits. Please call early in the morning on the day you would like to be scheduled so that we can accommodate you.

Mondays and Thursdays we have extended office hours (until 7 pm) to accommodate busy parents. These can be scheduled ahead of time or used for sick visits.

We also have a physician on call 24/7 should you have a question about your child’s care after hours. The physician can be reached through our answering service by calling our main number (248-374-0502) after hours.

LABORATORY TESTING:
We have a phlebotomist in our office for blood draws. We send blood out to the St. John Laboratory for testing. Our physicians will contact you with your results within 7-10 days. Please tell your physician if your insurance requires a particular lab for testing, and we can accommodate you.

IN OFFICE LABORTORY TESTING:
We are able to run some tests in our office for immediate results. These tests include (but not limited to): urinalysis, rapid strep tests and blood sugar. Testing that can be done in our office will be determined by your insurance.

MEDICATION REFILLS:
Ideally, we would like to refill most medications at our office visits or physical exams so to ensure proper monitoring of medications. In the event that your child should run out of medication and are not scheduled for an appointment, you may call our office and we can refill your prescription by phone. Please allow a 5-DAY WINDOW for refills on medications.

INPATIENT CARE:
We are happy to see our patients in the hospital if your child should need to be admitted. We round on patients at Royal Oak Beaumont and Providence Park Hospital in Novi. You will see one of the doctors daily while you are inpatient. We will help coordinate care with any subspecialists that are needed while in the hospital.
IMMUNIZATIONS:
We stock all immunizations for children in our office, including flu shots. Recommended vaccinations will be discussed at your child’s preventative visits.
WART REMOVAL:
Our physicians use cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) to freeze warts. Many times this requires multiple treatments for complete resolution.
EAR CLEANING:
Cerumen impaction (ear wax build up) is a common problem leading to decreased hearing and a sensation of fullness is the ear. Our physicians and medical assistants are able to remove wax with a curette or with ear lavage.
HEARING & VISION TESTING:
We offer hearing and vision testing as part of our yearly well child checks, and we can also use these services diagnostically if your child is experiencing a problem with these senses. The vision screen is done using a Snellen chart. The hearing screen is performed by a machine and is called an OAE or otoacoustic emissions test.
