ADULT NOVIDOCS SERVICES
PHYSICAL EXAMS: Patient Preparation: We ask that you come in fasting (no food for 10-12 hours) for your physical exam. Please bring in ALL of your medications to review with your doctor. Various insurance plans work differently, so please check with your insurance company to ensure that preventative visits are covered. For a better idea of preventative services that are needed for you, please visit the “preventative medicine” area of our website. |
OFFICE VISITS: Office visits are regularly scheduled appointments for follow up. These visits allow us time to review medications and recommend follow up for chronic medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes. Most patients with chronic medical conditions or on regular medications need to be seen for regular office visits every 3 months. Please bring all medications to your appointments.
SAME DAY SICK VISITS: As a service to our patients, we do save space for same day sick visits. This is a good way to avoid costly emergency room or urgent care visits. Please call early in the morning on the day you would like to be scheduled so that we can accommodate you.
LABORATORY TESTING: We have a phlebotomist in our office for blood draws. We send blood out to the St. John Laboratory for testing. Our physicians will contact you with your results within 7-10 days. Please tell your physician if your insurance requires a particular lab for testing, and we can accommodate you.
IN OFFICE LABORATORY TESTING: We are able to run some tests in our office for immediate results. These tests include (but not limited to): urinalysis, rapid strep tests, lipid panels, hemoglobin A1C, blood sugar and pregnancy tests. Testing that can be done in our office will be determined by your insurance.
MEDICATION REFILLS: Ideally, we would like to refill most medications at our office visits or physical exams so to ensure proper monitoring of medications. In the event that you should run out of medication and are not scheduled for an appointment, you may call our office and we can refill your prescription by phone. Please allow a 5 DAY WINDOW for refills on medications. We are unable to refill many narcotics by phone, and often request that patients be seen for antibiotic prescriptions.
EKG: EKG is a painless test that helps to assess the electrical rhythm of the heart. The test usually takes a few minutes and requires adhesive leads to be placed on various parts of the body. Your physician will interpret your EKG.
PERIOPERATIVE EVALUATIONS: Before an elective surgical procedure, your surgeon may recommend an evaluation to be sure your body can handle the procedure. Please call our office asap after scheduling surgery so that we can perform any tests that may be needed before the operation. This evaluation will include an exam, EKG and possibly bloodwork. We will then communicate our recommendations to your surgical team.
INPATIENT CARE: We are happy to see our patients in the hospital if you should need to be admitted. We round on patients at Royal Oak Beaumont and Providence Park Hospital in Novi. You will see one of the doctors daily while you are inpatient. We will help coordinate care with any subspecialists that are needed while in the hospital.
IMMUNIZATIONS: We store and administer all recommended vaccines for adults including seasonal flu shots. Please click here to see what shots you may need. You can also call the office or check our website for flu shot information. |
PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING/SPIROMETRY: This is a simple in office test that can be used to accurately diagnose and follow respiratory problems such as COPD (emphysema & chronic bronchitis) and asthma. The patient will be asked to blow into a tube, which is connected to a computer that generates data about the volume and force of expiration. Results are immediate, and your physician then interprets the test.
BONE DENSITY TESTING or DEXA: Who should get a BMD test: Women at high risk for osteoporosis over age 60, post-menopausal women over age 65, and at risk men over age 75. What to expect: You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire. You may be asked to change into a gown and then you will lie down on an open exam table. The tech will position you for scans of your lower spine and hip. The test will last approximately 20 minutes. |
XRAY: We provide in house x-ray in appropriate situations for our patients for a variety of conditions. These x-rays are first read by one of our physicians and then sent to a radiologist for an official read.
WART REMOVAL: Our physicians use cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) to freeze warts. Many times this requires multiple treatments for complete resolution.
EAR CLEANING: Cerumen impaction (ear wax build up) is a common problem leading to decreased hearing and a sensation of fullness is the ear. Our physicians and medical assistants are able to remove wax with a curette or with ear lavage.
ROUTINE GYNECOLOGICAL CARE: We provide routine gynecological care for our patients including pap smears and referrals for mammograms.
REFERRALS: Our doctors will frequently make referrals for patients needing to see subspecialists. Our office staff can help to generate the necessary paperwork for your insurance coverage. Please allow a 5 DAY WINDOW for referrals.
MINOR LACERATION REPAIR TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS JOINT INJECTIONS: These procedures can be performed at our office at the discretion of your physician. Please discuss these options with your provider.
